March's I Love You Rituals:

Here are two more I Love You Rituals that we are learning in class and you can complete at home with your toddler. They love these quick moments of personal connections with their parents. The teachers are more than happy to demonstrate these I love You Rituals for you at drop off or pick up so you and your child have those moments of connection.

Books we will be focusing on this month:

  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carl
  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle
    • Color recognition practice. Have your toddler name and repeat colors they notice in their environment.
  • A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle
  • How Do Dinosaurs Stay Safe? by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague
    • We will be discussing the children holding a parents hand to cross the street, using bicycle safety helmets, and participating safely in active play. Remember to encourage and praise your toddlers safe actions as they complete them at home.

What we are doing and learning:

Here are a few of the many skills your toddler will be learing as they have activities and experiences painting with peers. making playdough, participating in family style dining, and completing jobs as classroom helpers. Your toddler will get guidance in foundational math skills as they assist the teacher in measuring out ingredients to make playdough. They will also practice skills of balancing the needs of themselves with their peers as they complete such jobs as setting plates at the table for lunch or passing out milks to their peers. We will guide them during painting activities to take turns dipping their paint brushes in the paint to share. Support and encouragement will also be provided for your childs curiosity and motivations to play and explore in our classroom learning environment.

Volunteer opportunities:

We love having the parents participate in the classroom please see the teachers to sign up to assist with the classroom laundry, cutting out materials, and assisting with the farmers market.

Special Literacy Event:

Please join us on March 27th @ 9:55am for a presentation of the Three Little Pigs. The aftercare staff will be putting on a play and having student and parent volunteers join in for the completed retelling of this story. Teachers and parents are encouraged to read the story with their child at the beginning of the week to familiarize them with the characters and build excitement for this delightful event.
